More to come folks, but here is a teaser until I return to the great Commonwealth of Virginia. Unfortunately, many life lessons were learned today at the YRNC2007, but we will get into that tomorrow as well. Today, I learned the YRNC 2007 Convention Chairman not only is in, but seems to relish living in the Romney camp and therefore, shaped every possible aspect of today's events in favor of Romney. Also, I learned that even after 6.5 long years, Broward County and Republicans still don't mix...Plus, the above pictures reflect what the average straw poll Romney supporter looked like tonight. YRs? I think not. We also had a number 10-14 years olds voting for Romney, but alas we live and we learn. I will be posting many more photos and video and explanations to capture all of the exciting controversy over what turned out to be a totally bogus YRNC2007 straw poll election, which allowed anyone to vote more than once and provided the election officials with no voter list or credential minimum to allow YRNC delegates, alternate delegates or registered guests to vote. I literally told the Broward County official, so I could bring in people off the street who didn't attend the dinner, weren't YRs did not even attend lunch or the Convention to vote for Romney and he said in a word... I guess so. Things changed after a while, after I raised these issues, but anywho, more to come late tomorrow night. Oh and I was told the "official" Straw Poll results would not be released until tomorrow (if you didn't support Romney), but I have it on good authority that the vote will come out something to the effect of 168 votes for Romney, 103 for Thompson and 37 or so for Rudy. Let's see how these compare to the official bogus results tomorrow. Praise the Lord that we have a new YRNF administration taking over!

The comments in this blog are dishonest. If you want the truth please call the Broward Supervisor of Elections Office -- 954-357-7050. They conducted the poll and they have that only 7 to 8 people voted before the badge checking started (badges were also marked). The Broward Supervisor of Elections office also stated that a "statistically insignificant" number of non-YRs voted. There is no indication of who these people were voting for since attendees of the Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter, Michael Steele and Mitt Romney events were registered attendees.
Honesty, that is a pretty easy thing to criticize for someone posting anonymously. Obviously, you were not there and don't comprehend that the election folks were victims of circumstance. When asked, can anyone vote, including those who did not even attend the YR dinner, their answer was ...yes.
Obviously, there was a lack of communication between the Convention organizers and you all.
Although the main problem focuses on the method and administration of the straw poll that should have been set up by the YRs, you can't honestly believe that had the Broward County officials not been "told" that not having a voter list or a way to check badges for voter eligibility was a problem, that they would have changed anything. Surely any corrections(i.e., your reference to a subsequent effort to check badges and/or mark them) would never have occured.
Would seem to be something that someone might have thought of on their own before the opening of the polls, but I guess not?
Good luck and God bless. Hopefully, you will be honest and admit that you had no way to verify who was eligible or ineligible to vote until the issue was raised to you after the polls opened. Denying this fact my friend is dishonest.

I voted Saturday night in this poll at the Westin Diplomat. I was asked to show my badge, on which an "x" was placed to designate that I had not already voted. Romnet had just spoken at dinner, and had campaign staff at the convention the entire 3 full days of the convention. anyone would bet that he would win this. Next time, you should volunteer to help administer the vote to ensure it is fair.
As to the last anonymous post, you were required to show your badge only because you did not vote as part of the first 50-100 voters or within the initial 30+ minutes of the poll. I also learned the straw poll actually opened before the end of Mitt's speech, which ran long. Funny enough, I wasn't even the one who discovered this whole fiasco, it was brought to my attention by another YR.
Because of the issues raised as to complete lack of control, by the time you voted, certain organizers attempted to implement some sort of control to legitimize the poll after the fact. Again not the fault of Broward County election folks, but obviously there was no control over who voted until the issue was raised. As a personal witness, I can tell you the poll did not open the way you were checked and regular YRs Delegates did not learn that anyone could vote no matter what until Saturday.
Also, I agree with your second point. Hindsight is 20-20 my friend. If the YRNC2007 Chairman had "not" told me in an angry-raised voice that the motion to bifurcate the results would be ruled out of order and not go anywhere (which I was subsequently told it would not have been ruled out of order by the YRNC2007 Parliamentarian and he had hoped it would be submitted) this all would have never happened.
Like Ronald Reagan said, Trust but Verify.
Dear Virginian for fdt: I was the anonymous post from 12:58 PM today. I do admit that I voted later in the straw poll, when I assume most had already voted. I definitely agree in "trust but verify." If your allegations are true, this straw poll may have been the only mistake by the convention organizers. I appreciate that you recogize that the county employees were not at fault. Good luck to Senator Thompson. I appreciate his visit on Saturday to Broward County! -Todd Brown, Immediate Past President, Broward County Young Republicans
